My InterestsThis page is all about me and my interests. Some of my interests include reading books, playing with my three cats. On this page I will tell all about myself, also my cats and how many family members are in my family including myself. |
TigersTigers are one of the most magnificent animals in the world, is also one of the most endangered. A cat of beauty, strength, and majesty, the tiger is master of all and subject to none -- except humans. Of the eight original subspecies of tigers, three have become extinct within the last 60 years; and there are less than 50 South China tigers left on this planet - few, and possibly none, survive in the wild. Tigers increasingly compete with expanding human population and industry for land and food, and many are killed by poachers who sell their skins and body parts as ingredients for traditional Chinese medicines. |

LeopardsThe leopards, with more than 20 subspecies described, are included in the genus Panthera on the basis of several features. It is one of the roaring cats, capable of producing a deep sawing roar similar to that of the jaguar. The leopard is also like the jaguar in coat pattern, with dark spots or rosettes. The leopards are dispersed over a wider area today, than that of any of the other large cats. This species has been (and is still) illegally hunted throughout its range for sport, and for its fur. The leopard is capable of running just under 40 miles per hour for brief periods. |
JaguarsThe jaguar is one of the most majestic and mysterious animals in nature. Its beautiful spotted fur coat once was a sought-after commodity for the fashion industry. The jaguar has a compact body, a broad head and powerful jaws. It is the largest cat in the Americas. Only an estimated 15,000 jaguars remain in the wild. Wild jaguars can live between 12 and 16 years. |
LionsOf all the great cats, the lion has always held a supreme place in man's esteem and imagination. The lion has always been honored by man, crediting the regal beast with attributes he prizes most; nobility, courage, loyalty, combative skills and sexual prowess. This attribution applies to both sexes, for a lioness is a creature of sinuous beauty, but the full-grown male, whose magnificent mane ranging in color from a rich golden brown to a deep blackish-brown, mark him as the veritable monarch of the plains. |
